While most manufacturers of IT products and electronic goods, resellers of hardware and other distributors, dealers and retailers view counterfeit products are a major problem, there seems to be another view that gives insights into a particular segment of consumers. In this article, we have interacted with some Indian manufacturers as well as members of the channel community to understand the dynamics which keep these products floating in the market.
Manufacturers’ Perspective
We talked to some Indian manufacturers of IT products and electronic goods about their views on counterfeit products. They are almost unanimous in declaring that counterfeit products are problematic and efforts should be taken to combat them. As manufacturers, they even take steps to ensure that their own products don’t run into this problem.

As a brand committed to delivering premium quality and performance, U&i invests heavily in research, development and stringent quality control measures to ensure our products meet the highest standards. Counterfeit goods, on the other hand, are often made with inferior materials and can pose risks in terms of performance and safety, tarnishing the reputation of legitimate brands.
