It’s not often a new company gets things so spectacularly right with its first release, but Xsenselabs has done just that with this excellent wireless graphics tablet. Although only established three years ago, Xsenselabs boasts several former Wacom employees, so many years of experience has gone into its design and execution.
The tablet, which connects to your Mac wirelessly, is 23.5cm wide, 18.5cm deep and only 0.8cm thick. It feels just right under your wrist when in use, partly thanks to the welcome bezel at the foot of the device. Unlike other graphics tablets, this one has no shortcut buttons on the side. Instead they’re housed on a separate unit, the Quick Keys pad, which is included in the package. Featuring a physical dial and an OLED screen, you can use this to quickly switch between up to 40 programmable shortcut keys, which you can set up with app-based commands such as Zoom and Layers. Four LEDs on the corner of the tablet and in the Quick Keys unit change colour to show which of your app-specific setups you’re currently using.
