Add additional users to a Mac

YOUR MAC IS a desirable piece of kit, so it's inevitable someone else will want to use it from time to time be that a family member, friend or guest. Trouble is, handing over your Mac when it's logged into your account is a path to potential danger. Another user could access your files, make changes to your settings, download apps and much more.

But you can avoid all that stress by setting up extra accounts. With macOS, you can easily add and remove users, determine what they can and can't do, and prevent your Mac from being misused. You will, in effect, be giving users their own little separate islands (unless you grant full administrative privileges), protecting your files and settings. In the case of guests, you'll also be ensuring that all files created are stored in a temporary folder that's deleted when they log out. What's more, once set up, you can move between accounts with ease. Let's check it out.
