It&rsquo;s designed to be used indoors or out, and can be mounted on a post or screwed into a wall instead of sitting on a shelf or table if you wish. Download the Deco app to incorporate it into your current Wi&ndash;Fi network using its Access Point Mode, or use it as a replacement for the router you got from your Internet Service Provider (ISP). It&rsquo;s compatible with TP&ndash;Link&rsquo;s other Deco wireless products, so you can create a Wi&ndash;Fi mesh, with several access points eliminating dead spots around the house. The X50 Outdoor has parental controls (subscription required) and management features, but if you use it in Access Point Mode these are disabled.</p>
<p>The main advantage of Wi&ndash;Fi 6 is it can handle far more simultaneous connections without loss of performance. According to TP&ndash;Link, Deco X50 can handle over 150 connections efficiently, without any of them slowing down. Given the way we use the internet these days, with high&ndash;definition&nbsp;streaming services, IP camera streaming, online video gaming, smart home devices and more, as well as going online with computers, smartphones and tablets, this is definitely an advantage. It&rsquo;s dual band, with 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz channels, and we&rsquo;re promised combined speeds of up to 3,000 Mbps (574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz and 2,402 Mbps on 5 GHz).</p>

<p>In our tests, it performed admirably in a variety of different conditions. Even when playing an Xbox game, streaming movies to two different televisions and connecting several household gadgets, there was no lag on any of the devices. Of course, speeds and bandwidth could be improved further by using a tri&ndash;band device instead of this dual&ndash;band router, but that would prove more expensive. If you&rsquo;re looking for a household family router or an outdoor access point for when you host a cookout, it won&rsquo;t let you down. If you&rsquo;re a small business owner who needs to support a large number of simultaneous connections all demanding a high degree of bandwidth, it&rsquo;s probably not for you.&nbsp;</p>
