THE WHY, THE WHICH & wardrobe

Tell us a bit about Neimil.

Neimil is a brand that is centred on design and the sharing of stories that are influenced by African history and heritage. The design style is Afro-futuristic and plays on the idea of ‘future nostalgia’; just capturing memories in everything we design.

What are your favourite wardrobe items right now?

I bought a pair of leopard-print loafers from Poetry – something out of my comfort zone but I fell in love instantly – as well as my blue Meadow tassel skirt from Neimil.

What’s one shop you can’t resist popping into?

I don’t really shop a lot. But I can’t resist Zara Home and Weylandts. I like the feeling of being in the stores and feeling textures, sitting on chairs and just exploring.

Which three things are getting a lot of wear?

Definitely my oversized biker jacket, my Neimil trench coat and any form of wide-legged nude pants – they get worn every single week!

Any particular fabrics or cuts that you usually gravitate towards?

I lean towards voluminous silhouettes, whether it’s sleeves or pant legs or an exaggerated collar. And I love any sort of textured fabrics, like brocade, mohair – materials that are already visually appealing before they are turned into a product.

If you could only buy one new item this winter, what would it be?

A chunky scarf is what I’m all about this winter.

Where would you shop for the following items: a pair of winter boots, a statement dress, and a jacket or coat?
