Spend time in the sun

Soak up 20 minutes of midday sun daily (without sunscreen) and your skin will produce a full day’s supply of vitamin D-3— a nutrient that can halve your risk of developing urinary tract infections (UTIs). The reason? Scientists reporting in the African Journal of Urology say vitamin D-3 nourishes the bladder lining, keeping it healthy so germs can’t invade, and it prods bladder cells to release bacteria-killing compounds called antimicrobial peptides.
