We know the price our body pays during menopause, but a new study shows there are also literal costs due to its effect on work productivity. In fact, 11% of women in the study said their symptoms forced them to miss work. “For a long time, we’ve been trying to tell people this is a big problem,” says lead author Stephanie Faubion, MD, director of Mayo Clinic’s Center for Women’s Health. “Women who struggled the most with psychological symptoms, like anxiety, were 21 times more likely to experience a negative work outcome.”
