Wilhelmina's wow factor  'I CAN FINALLY BE ME!

When a devastated Wilhelmina Shrimpton signed off from her TV reporting job, she feared she might never work in journalism again.

Leaving her News hub role amidst major changes at the network two years ago was a heartbreaking blow. But now, the broadcasting star is happier than she ever thought possible. With a new investigative journalism role on Today FM, she simply can't believe how things have turned out.

"I've had to accept that life isn't always going to be smooth sailing," she says, sitting down with the Weekly to celebrate her new job. “And that’s okay because I’ve learned that sometimes the tough times turn out to be the best thing for you. When I left News hub, I remember walking out those doors in pieces. I thought, ‘I’ll never get to do what I love again.’ But after a few hard years, I am absolutely where I’m meant to be. I love my life so much.”

After a short stint in digital advertising, Wilhelmina was thrilled to join Today FM with her friend and colleague Lloyd Burr co-hosting the drive show. A year on, she’s been promoted to Investigations Editor, taking the helm of Today FM Investigates, with her first documentary Unsocial Media: Following the Trolls released last month. Wilhelmina says it’s been wonderful working for a business that’s allowed her to create her own path.
