Coming out of the cinema, it took a while to adjust to reality. Harry Potter transported me to another world, and its magic stayed with me for a while.

‘can’t believe you haven’t seen the films!’ I said when I met my partner James, now 29.

So, when our daughter Ellie was born, in September 2011, I couldn’t wait to show them both the magic.

It would be the perfect opportunity for James to watch the films, too.

The Wizarding World had other plans though, and Harry Potter flew into Ellie’s life before she could read!

Getting married in Cyprus in 2015, it was a special day made more magical with Ellie, then three, by our side.

Only, on the dance floor, in the corner of my eye, I saw my mother-in-law, Angela, 58, come over.

She had been watching Ellie.

‘Is everything OK?’ Tasked.

‘Yes, Ellie’s fine!’ she said, pointing to her dancing with family. I’ve just had a thought.’

‘Goon... James said.

‘Ellie looks just like Hermione in the Harry Potter films!’ she exclaimed.

Looking over at our little girl, we saw that she was right.

With her wavy hair, doe eyes and fringe, you couldn’t mistake the resemblance.

And she looked more and more like Granger every day everyone seemed to notice it.

Going about our usual Saturday morning shopping, town was crowded with people.
