ABOUT ME I'm Laurie Davidson, an interior stylist and writer (@lifeofaninteriorstylist). I live in a three-bedroom 1930s semidetached in Ewell, Surrey, with my boyfriend Wayne, an IT engineer, and our cats Chas and Dave. We bought the house in 2010.
THE CHALLENGE I was using our spare bedroom as a bit of a dressing room previously, but it had open rails and always looked messy. Plus with nothing in the middle of the room it felt like an underused space.
MY WISH LIST Storage, and lots of it, for all our clothes! I wanted to shut them all away behind closed doors, but still have the feel of a dressing room.
Our spare room has never really been used as a bedroom, but it also didn't do its job as a dressing room particularly well,' says Laurie. 'We'd put in a wall-hung open rail system and in my mind, the room was going to look lovely and sophisticated.
In reality, it just looked messy and the middle of the room was empty. And unless you have a carefully curated capsule wardrobe (which I definitely don't), the clothes don't look ordered or neat.
Coming up with a plan
After doing lots of research on Pinterest I knew I wanted something smarter, where my clothes were hidden away but easily accessible. That's where My Fitted Bedroom came in... They sent a designer round who gave us lots of advice on how we could best use the space. He brought lots of different door samples, so we could see the styles and colours close up.
Now, usually I go for a neutral colour palette, but as soon as we saw the Luna door fronts in Clover, a gorgeous deep green, we loved the look of them.
I thought I knew what I wanted, but the designer had so many ideas I wouldn't have thought of. He suggested an island unit to make the most of the middle of the room, which I loved, as it gave it a glamorous touch, plus even more storage!

'We wanted an Art Deco Vibe' - Helen took her bathing space from cramped and dated to family-friendly, with a classic retro-inspired look
