Hair is a big part of someone's identity

Poppy Lee-Burrowes is a charity fund-raiser, trailblazer and pioneer at the age of only eleven! Holly Crawford finds out more.
Hair is a big part of someone's identity

AN inspirational youngster from Wales hit the headlines recently after waiting six years to donate her lovely locks to the Little Princess Trust.

At first the charity was unable to accept Poppy's kind offer, as they had been told by manufacturers that Afro-textured hair was too delicate to be used in wigs.

But Poppy did not give up on her dream. Nor did the Little Princess Trust.

Happily, the hard work paid off for both parties.

The Little Princess Trust, which gives wigs to children and young people who have lost their hair to illness, had a breakthrough last year.

Thanks to the efforts of donor Carly Gorton, Little Princess Trust ambassador Cynthia Stroud and stylists at Raoul Wigmakers in London, a new "weaving" method was fine-tuned, meaning the charity could supply wigs made of real Afro hair.
