Prince Harry is keen to spend the Christmas holidays in the UK with his wife and children - but Meghan wants to stay in the US.
It's a tricky time for Harry - he hasn't spent Christmas here for six years and he could be forgiven for feeling rather lonely and estranged from his Windsor relatives.
All the royals will gather at Sandringham in December, and I'm told that all the cousins, such as Eugenie, Beatrice, Zara and Peter Phillips, all look forward to the fun.
Harry and Meghan, I understand, haven't been invited to the traditional royal Christmas, but they have reportedly received an invitation from Charles Spencer, Harry's uncle, to stay at Althorp and spend time with his mother's side of the family.
Harry has always remained close to the Spencers Charles, the current Earl Spencer, and Harry's aunt Lady Jane Fellowes both supported him at St Paul's Cathedral earlier this year for the Invictus Games' 10th-anniversary service.
Yet the Sussexes still have fears for their safety in the UK. Meghan, 43, has not visited since the late Queen's death in 2022 and doesn't want to bring her and Harry's two children, Archie, five, and Lilibet, three.
Reaching out
Earl Spencer reportedly extended the open invitation to Harry when the duke stayed at Althorp earlier this year after flying over from California to attend the memorial service for Diana's brother-inlaw Lord Robert Fellowes.
Harry also took the opportunity while at Althorp to visit his mother's grave, on an island in the middle of the estate's Oval Lake, on the 27th anniversary of her death.
