COASTAL WALKS

Wending its way from Cumbria to Berwick-upon-Tweed, the King Charles III England Coast Path wraps around the entire coast of England. Totalling 2,700 miles (4,300km) the trail, delivered by Natural England, will be the world's longest continuous coastal walking route when it's complete. We've cherry-picked five fantastic sections that are waiting to be explored...

WHITEHAVEN TO SILECROFT, CUMBRIA

Enjoy miles of undisturbed coastline, with stunning views of the Lake District fells and the Irish Sea. Birdwatchers will love the red sandstone cliffs at St Bees Head – home to an RSPB nature reserve and England’s only cliff-nesting seabird colony. See kittiwakes, fulmars and guillemots. Admire the industrial Sellafield skyline before heading to the seaside villages of Seascale, Ravenglass and Silecroft. As the Lake District National Park’s only coastal village, a stop-off in Ravenglass is a must. Explore Muncaster Castle or take a scenic ride on the Ravenglass to Eskdale Railway.

WHERE TO STAY The Coachman’s Quarters, located in the old stable yard at Muncaster Castle. Rooms from £103 per night; muncaster. co.uk/coachmansquarters.
