Bliss,' Pamela sighed contentedly as she lay back in the warm bathwater. 'Peace and quiet at last.'
There was a knock on the door and her shoulders immediately tensed up. 'Can't you read?' she snapped.
'Sorry, Mum, where's my football kit?' The Do Not Disturb sign she'd hung outside the bathroom door obviously wasn't working.
'Have you looked in your drawer?' Pamela asked through gritted teeth.
'Um...no, but I will. Sorry, Mum. Just noticed your sign.'
Pamela tutted loudly. Living in a house with two teenage sons and her husband, Jake, meant she rarely got time or space to herself. The boys hogged the front room, Jake's work stuff was all over the dining room, the garage was filled with boxes of goodness knows what. Even the dog had its own cosy space under the stairs. And now the bathroom was no longer a safe haven.
Pamela adored her family, but sometimes she just wanted her own space. "'Who was it that said a woman needs a room of their own?' she pondered.
