AMITY DRY 'MY LIFE CHANGED OVERNIGHT!'

This year doesn't just mark two decades since The Block first hit our screens it's also 20 years since Amity Dry shot to overnight fame and had her first album, The Lighthouse, top the charts.

"I was just a singer trying to get my big break and make ends meet, and then all of a sudden I was thrust into the spotlight and everybody knows who you are," the 45-year-old tells Woman's Day.

Amity says her life changed "in every way", thanks to the success of the Nine series. "I got the record deal. My album went to the top 10, all within six weeks.

I was 25! It was absolutely insane," she says.

Like typical teens, Amity says her kids, son Jamison, 17, and daughter Poppy, 13, are nonplussed about their mum's time in the spotlight.
