A heartbroken Stevie Nicks told fans she'd lost her "best friend in the whole world" when Fleetwood Mac bandmate Christine McVie passed away on November 30, aged 79. But the pair's 47-year friendship was a rock'n'roll rollercoaster - much like the band's wild history.
Drummer Mick Fleetwood, 75, once confessed recording their iconic 1977 album Rumours "almost killed us".
And the making of the hit record - which went on to sell more than 40 million copies worldwide - was plagued by drama, with the two couples in the band - Stevie, 74, and guitarist and vocalist boyfriend Lindsey Buckingham, 73, and Christine and her bass guitarist husband John McVie, 77 - splitting up.
"We literally didn't talk, other than to say, 'What key is this song in?"" Christine once confessed of the "trauma" she experienced while trying to work with her ex-husband after their seven-year union came to an end.
To make things more complicated, Christine had an affair with the band's lighting director Curry Grant, and even wrote a hit song about the romance.
