While at times not the warmest of mums, over the years the Queen thawed out especially when she became a grandma and great-granny to an adorable crew of next-generation Mountbatten-Windsors.
Her first grandson, Peter Phillips, also made her a great-grandmother on the birth of his daughter Savannah in 2010.
While Her Majesty loves all her grandkids, it's believed she had particularly close bonds with a select few.
