Kitty parties are much more than what men perceive.

Women's Social Cliques!

Aadita had always believed that pictures of a bevy of beauties having coffee or lunch together when uploaded on Instagram are viewed with admiration. Usually they are, but so often there is one odd snide remark that lands up in her inbox along with several other appreciative ones.

Like the one she received last time, "Hey! I thought you are too intellectually evolved to be seen in this kind of set-up! What exactly is this? A kitty?"

"Even from a text I could sense the other person turning their nose in unwarranted disdain," she quips.

Since the word 'kitty' evokes such strong emotions as evident from the comment above, one is prompted to write in its defence and debunk some stereotypes. A kitty is the most convenient way of human connects for ladies. If at any given point in life, women want to make new friends, are they going to emerge from a classified? Or should the women be content to socialise just within husband's social sphere?

Someone, who has never attended a kitty, is more likely to dismiss it as a gossip hub for women who have nothing better to do. Anyone who has been to the new, improved version that exists today would know better. Kitties have evolved, and how!

Aadita's friend Shirin joins in, "I look at my own kitty groups and notice a variety of professions they belong to - entrepreneurs, artists, educators, architects, Reiki healer and of course the versatile homemakers. One will be better at their job when they interact with people. That is where writers find their stories and artists their inspiration."

One can reckon that it would otherwise be a herculean task to bring a group of, say, twelve women together for a coffee, in an age and times when all have jam-packed schedules.
