Most TV viewers will know her as  outspoken factory worker Beth Sutherland in Corrie, yet Lisa George appears worlds away from her on-screen character when Woman's Weekly sits down for a chat with her.

The actor has been a hit with viewers of the show for over a decade but confesses she is mindful not to get complacent in the acting world. 'Well, you don't know what's going to happen,' she says when pressed on whether she'd ever consider leaving the famous cobbles.

'I was watching the ITVX drama Nolly [about Crossroads actor Noele Gordon], who was the first woman on colour television. But they got rid of her when she was 61. It's fascinating because she made it her life and then they just discarded her. So you always have that at the back of your head,' she says.

Despite still embracing life on Corrie, the 52-year-old star is careful to keep her options open, and admits a historical drama has always been a dream of hers. 'I'm obsessed with anything from the 1940s and 1950s, so I'd love to be in Call the Midwife,' she says.
