The Telangana state government is firm on implementing compulsory rural service for those graduating from medical colleges in the state though the junior doctors, the fresh graduates, are holding out by staying away from their duties at the government hospitals. Though the High Court has also cautioned the young doctors against staying away from work they continue to do so. The strike that began on October 1 has already affected health services in the state. But the young doctors claim that the state has no right to demand their services just because they have gone for medical education to state run colleges. Now, Chief Minister K. Chandra Sekhar Rao has also warned of stern repercussions.
