This month's cover story is on the new "lungs of the city", the massive new Central Park built on the site of the old Shuinan Airport, written by Chloe Chang.  As always, we kick off with a roundup of events, and then on to the new openings!  Compass magazine editor Doug Habecker brings us Chilliesine Indian Bistro, a new take on the Chillies Indian Restaurant model. Rachel An, as always a busy bee, brings us a slew of new openings, starting with Wanderlust Bean Project, opened by a Polish/HK couple serving Polish food. Compass Chinese editor Uvia Chang gives us the lowdown on Malaysian PappaRich, Chloe Chang braves the spicy Szichuan hotpot eatery Happy Fish and Pepper, Taylor Melton samples the delicate pastries of B Square Bakery and Anna Yang has fun a cool, artsy new bar Arts & Crafts.  Doug is back with our Western dining feature soaking in the spectacular views and food at Top of ONE, Uvia checks out the classic Japanese decor and yummy food at Abura Yakiniku while Niang Chen gets Australian with Manly's Club Bistro. Taichung City This Month explores what the city is doing to improve the city's air quality. 

In this issue Rachel An takes a look at the National Taichung Theater, a major landmark in the city!  As always we have plenty of newly opened establishments, including Ta Ta Earth and VVG Foodplay and Bar (by Rachel An), Thai J Hotpot and Yan Guo Hotpot (By Uvia Chang), Ming Yue (by Keiran Cheng), HWC Roasters (by Douglas Habecker), Ururu Coffee (by Evangeline Lin) and the Taiwan Modern Musical Boxes Museum (by Anna Yang).  Uvia Chang travelled to Changhua to check out scenic restaurant Flower Baylor, while Niang Chen got her Japanese food fix at Yuge Sushi, which started life at a night market but now is a full restaurant.  Douglas Habecker also went the seafood route, but Taiwanese style at Ali Seafood.  Rachel An went exotic and checked out Thai Hua, which was opened by a Thai-Burmese-Chinese immigrant family.  If beer's your thing, Douglas Habecker finds out why Le Ble d'or has been so successful for so long! It's amazing but true: Compass Food & Music Festival turns 16 this year!  Editor Douglas Habecker takes a look at our long-running festival in this month's cover story.  As always we've got lots of new openings, and our Chinese editor Uvia Chang kicks off with a look at Tsai Huo Roast Duck, which does roast duck in a variety of popular styles.  For seafood and hotpot, check out Jeffery Hsu's look at Yu Zhi Xiang Mu Tong Yu (Fish in a Barrel).  For a spot with a nostalgic feel, swing by Home Home, written up by Charlie Huang.  Pasta and brunch are on the menu at Mu Cement Cafe, which Betty Huang introduces us to.  Eric Hsieh looked into Mr. Good, which mixes pickled vegetables on sale with Shanxi dining.  For western foods like burgers in a forest decor, you can't miss out on Go Home, written up by Evangeline Lin.  Doug Habecker checks out the aptly-named Spirited American Bakery and Niang Chen found a great spot for whisky lovers in Duei Mien.  For longer-standing restaurants, Doug Habecker visited high quality for good price Inn Cafe and sampled WOO's Thai cuisine.  Uvia had a good time exploring Fu Chai Cantonese Restaurant and La Saison Patisserie Formosa.  For nightlife, we look to Daniel White, and he delivered a look into Coffury Studio No.71.  In our Taichung City Government section, the Information Bureau looks at the city's efforts towards creating a friendly city for senior citizens.  In our new section in cooperation with the Taichung Brother's Baseball club we get insight into the key role of the team's interpreter.  Finally, for a bit of fun and games, Daniel White is back, introducing us to Game Farm up in the Tunghai area.  

This month Compass goes baseball crazy for the home team, the Taichung Brothers Baseball Club, in our cover story written by editor Doug Habecker!
