In this edition, we get to explore a new perspective on the way we travel. At what point do we draw the line when we visit a community, enter their homes and take pictures of them like we would an animal on safari? On page 64, we looked at both sides of the coin – “cultural immersion or poverty touting”.

Much focus has been on Airbnb’s ability to become a new kind of online travel agency and a major disrupter to the traditional hotel industry, especially after a recent announcement from Airbnb that bookings in Nigeria have increased by 213% as of June 2018, with Ghana and Mozambique coming in second and third, what does this mean for hoteliers in Africa? Mapaseka Sekgala – a new addition to our editorial team, had lots of fun exploring the Seychelles and Tsitsikamma. She bungee jumped from the world’s highest commercial bungee, giving details into her adventures on pages 20 and 35. In another special feature, Martin Chemhere, in his piece, looked at Ethiopia on the path to becoming the next China on page 62. Rwanda has rolled out the East African Community (EAC) electronic passport in an effort to boost faster border clearance. Check out more details on page 82.
