For four months we closely monitored the nest site of a pair of Southern Yellow-billed Hornbills near Brits in the North West Province.

It soon became clear that for the hornbills, raising their young was no easy task. In addition to meeting the demands of the female and the chicks, the male hornbill was relentlessly pestered by his neighbours, a family of Common Mynas.
