Dreams Can Come True
Canine Zone|August/September 2020
Happy rehoming stories always gladden the heart. Sometimes, though, there are some that really stand out, for different reasons – with one common thread. That thread is the fact that, despite every effort, these wonderful dogs have been overlooked time and time again, perhaps because of age, others due to minor medical issues, and yet more because they need special attention and training.

Dreams Can Come True

When a dog finally goes home after spending nearly three years patiently waiting for his chance, you can bet there’s not a dry eye at the kennels, and it truly is a special occasion.

FREEDOM FOR FLASH

That special day arrived for Flash back in April, when Sheena and her family came to meet him during our crazy week of evacuating the entire TEARS kennels before the start of the Lockdown. The minute she met old Flash, her mind was made up that he’d be their lockdown foster buddy, and this handsome senior citizen was soon on his way to his temporary foster home. Or so he thought… after a couple of days he’d worked his magic, and we were absolutely thrilled when Sheena called us to say he wasn’t coming back! She adopted him for keeps, and now this wise old man has finally found his place in the world and is thoroughly enjoying his very well-deserved retirement.

GEORGIA GOES HOME

With some dogs, it’s the willingness to take that extra little bit of trouble, and in Georgia’s case, her hero is Chris. Georgia had been patiently waiting at TEARS for nearly two years, always catching everyone’s attention with her soulful expression and affectionate nature, which soon got bypassed at the mention of one or two minor medical issues.
