If one accepts ours is a profession predicated on verities and truth more than skill and technique, it might be helpful for every architect to write a personal bible of strategic references and objectives.
Yet ours is not an overtly literate profession and we are often averse to reading or writing about design. We are graphic thinkers, we say—an explanation that not only exposes the reason for the perennially weak case we make regarding the significance of design, but also our general inability to articulate our foundational values convincingly, with verve and style.
