Living in the moment

Functionality and comfort will be the underlying current of living zones in this new decade – underpinning a sense of calm and wellness, manifested in soft colours, minimal decor and relaxed living room designs.

Living in the moment

The easiest way to transform a living space is to update the sofa, the design of which has always reflected consumer and society trends. For example, deep-seated sofas are perhaps the result of the rise of a ‘binge-watch’ culture which prioritizes comfort and a cushion depth of up to 100 centimeters. In recent years developing a personal style became a priority. Now, with the ecological implications of purchases being considered more than ever, consumers are thinking more long-term than they have in the past. Seating systems and furniture are alternating between curves and straight lines, with unexpected combinations, manifested in soothing and relaxed living room designs.

Art Deco-style brass sofa bases are being replaced by wooden-based iterations –which are more versatile to work with and less restrictive in style. Rodolfo Dordoni’s West design for Minotti is characterized by its suitability for use in a wide range of different contemporary and traditional arrangements. Every element of the seating system is made with goose down padding to ensure maximum comfort, and features cushions finished with piping that defines their profile, as well as a distinctive aluminum strip.
