We Say: More Suv-like, A Diesel Motor And Three Rows Of Seats. The NewCR-V Packs In All The Essentials For The Job
We had barely finished putting together a feature story in the previous edition of the magazine, when the Ed had made his way to the Philipines to drive Honda’s latest, that another invite arrived. This time to sample the fifth-generation CR-V, here, in India. Our typical conditions have their own challenges and peculiarities, ones that cannot be replicated elsewhere. We are close to one of Rajasthan’s wide open highways, eager to see how it gets on.
The car you see on these pages is the two-wheel-drive version of the diesel-powered CR-V. Yes, you read that right, a CR-V with a diesel motor, now in India. It hadn’t hit the showrooms by the time this story went to print, but that is likely to have changed by the time this magazine makes its way to your coffee table.
Enough has been said about the way the new CR-V looks already. This particular example, dressed in silver, looks more grown-up compared to the outgoing car. The higher ground clearance and flared out haunches work to make the CR-V appear bigger. However, quite surprisingly, it doesn’t grab much attention with few people turning around for a second glimpse of the car.
