IT does seem to be A Thing – bikes, quite stunning bikes, get featured, and they just seem to disappear off the face of the planet. It seems almost a rule, to which there are, of course, exceptions, that no sooner has a bike had its five minutes of fame, or 30 days if you like, it then vanishes into the ether in a manner reminiscent of the Roanoke colonists, Lord Lucan, or SheffieldWednesday.
Occasionally though, just occasionally, the whereabouts of a very special bike can be ascertained years, decades even, after it’s been built, and this ’ere Triumph, ladies and gentlemen, is one such machine. Built way back around 2012 by the elder statesman (he’s going to kill me for that…) of Irish custom bike building, Mr. Ger Conlon, it is, at this precise moment, sitting unused and unloved in a garage in Cork. I know, I know, fuggin’ criminal, isn’t it? Someone may be able to rescue it though; we’ll get to that in a moment.
