If we think about the Paris– Dakar Rally and the challenges this grueling race presented back in the day, few things seem as daunting as attempting it on a motorcycle. This is where the Africa Twin has its roots; a two-cylinder Honda motorcycle designed to tackle this demanding race, which it did successfully with four victories in the late 1980s.

Over the years, this dual-purpose motorbike has progressed into one of the most capable off-road and touring models on the market. However, equipped with the company’s six-speed dual-clutch transmission, it does transform the riding and input experience.

Situated within the painted frame is a parallel twin-cylinder of 1 084 cm3 that delivers 75 kW and 105 N.m. It’s plenty for any situation, be it on the open road or a favorite stretch of gravel. The seat is on the high side but at least it presents a perfect view of the equipment onboard. Of which there is a lot.
