I had a bit of a wake-up call when the BGT went in for its MoT this month. It sailed through as I had expected it would, but what surprised me was the discovery that I’d only covered 564 miles since the last test. When I got home, I checked some of my other cars’ paperwork, and was shocked to see that my Fiat 128 had done just 202 miles.
Clearly I have too many cars doing too few miles, and what I need is to have fewer cars, each ticking more boxes so that they get a decent amount of exercise each year – four figure mileages are really the minimum.
So I decided to hold the kind of clear out that I tend to have every few years, throwing everything up in the air and seeing what goes. So the Fiat will be entered in Anglia Car Auctions’ next sale and the Acclaim is up for sale at £1100. On the MG front, I happened to mention my plans on Facebook and before I knew it, the BGT had been snapped up. I have just got home from delivering that to its new owners, a trip of over 400 miles on its own that I will detail next issue. I am very happy to say that it is now embarking on a life of adventure on endurance rallies.
