With styling tweaks, optional accessories and minor under-the-skin upgrades, the 2021 Jawa 42 gets a whole lot better

MY GRANDFATHER OWNED NOT ONE BUT two Jawas in his heyday. Ever since my childhood, I’ve been hearing stories of him clocking hundreds of kilometres on those motorcycles and the idea of classics appealing only to the older generation was just ingrained in my brain. Fast forward to 2018 and the Jawa brand is resurrected, and the new modern classics are the sportiest in the segment, pack latest technologies and appeal to all generations. With increasing competition, an update was due and Jawa has refreshed the 42 for 2021 with styling and mechanical tweaks. Interestingly, this model will be christened the numerical 42, while the Forty Two (without the upgrades) will continue to be sold side-by-side.
