Clinical psychologist Monica Sharma opines that the expectation and efforts to make festival celebrations perfect, cause depression. Also, people anticipate a lot to make their festival flawless, which results in stress and ultimately leads to anxiety.
People who stay away from their family and are unable to join them during festivals are more likely to anxiety and depression during this time, adds clinical psychologist Shyamolie Desai. When their friends upload festival celebration pictures on social media, they compare and feel bad about missing being with their family during festivities. It makes them feel depressed. So, to combat festival blues, here are six approaches to beat the post-festival blues and get back to the day-to-day normal routine.
Go ‘Off the Grid’
It is irresistible to stay on Instagram and other social media sites, revisiting festive memories. But take a break from that. Catch up again with your everyday, real life. Meet friends. If possible, turn off your social media notifications for a while and reconnect with your loved ones offline.
