“At that time I did not realise that I was disrupting the market. All we did was change elements that I did not like. A new hospitality brand was born out of the little things that other hotels did not pay heed to,” says the very dapper Girish Jhunjhnuwala, founder and owner of the ubercool chain, Ovolo Hotels. Born and raised in Hong Kong, Jhunjhnuwala began his career managing his family’s OEM watch company, under the Hind Group, in Hong Kong. At the change of the millennium he noticed a gap in the market and decided to follow his heart by moving into the hospitality business.

He launched the Ovolo brand in 2002, as a serviced apartment in Hong Kong’s Southern Central district. Since then, Ovolo has transitioned into a boutique luxury hotel chain, with 10 owned and operated properties, including eight boutique hotels and two serviced apartments across Hong Kong and Australia
