Elevator Pitch
I’m sitting here on a plane, flying from Paris to Washington DC to give a short presentation, so it’s fitting that I use this time to write a story that happened on a plane, also flying from Europe to the US. It’s a story about knowing your audience in the right way, and it’s an introduction to the core way that we believe a presentation should be structured. Before I start, though, I want you to picture for a second that one person in the world who would make all the difference to something in your life right now. It could be business; it could be more personal. Now I want you to imagine that you climb into an elevator with them. The lift doors start closing and that person smiles a greeting to you, holding your gaze for a second.
