Their marriage has had its low points over the years, but Nicole Richie and Joel Madden’s relationship is as tense as ever, as rumours emerge that Joel could have a secret love child!

Yep, the pair – who celebrated their eight-year wedding anniversary on December 11 – have been at odds lately, as Joel, 39, cosies up to fans on tour, and now with this new scandal, their relationship could be at breaking point.

“Joel’s getting ready to play gigs in Europe, and that’s got Nicole freaked out in a big way,” spills NW’s insider. “Everyone knows she gets a little paranoid when he’s on the road and girls are throwing themselves at him at every turn.”

However, while Nicole trusts her hubby completely, she doesn’t like that he’s chummy with “floozies, who probably think he’s flirting instead of being friendly,” says the spy.

“It burns Nic like hell that anyone would think they’re in with a chance with her man.”
