With her upbeat attitude and soothing manner, Christine Lampard has lifted our spirits during our lockdown lunchbreaks as she headed up the Loose Women panel. And now she’ll be kicking off our mornings, too, as she’s taken over from Lorraine Kelly to host her breakfast show over the summer.
It means the presenter, 41, will be leaving her husband Frank Lampard, 42, in charge of their 22-month-old daughter Patricia’s morning routine.
“I don’t think she will miss me that much, thankfully,” Christine says. “She’s at that age when it’s still very manageable.”
Here, the star talks motherhood, keeping fit and why she has to pinch herself every day...
Hi Christine! Are you looking forward to being back on Lorraine this summer?
I am. I’ve been quite relaxed about it because the Lorraine family are all very friendly. I know they’ve done a brilliant job of making everything feel as normal as possible and I can’t wait to see them all. You have to give Lorraine full credit because she has found a way of dealing with everything and motored on as she always does. She hasn’t had a day off, so this holiday is very well deserved.
How are you going to find being back in the studio every day?
Frank has been back weeks now [as head coach for Chelsea FC] and I’ve been doing Loose Women. It’s strange when you have work – you feel a little bit normal. I don’t think Patricia will worry about me doing Lorraine every day. The timings mean I will only really miss her breakfast, which Frank will do, but I’ll be back early and I’ll still be able to put her down for her nap, spend the rest of the day with her and put her to bed at night-time.
