Things don’t look good for Corrie’s Fiz, but Jennie McAlpine has plenty to smile about as she looks forward to celebrating 20 years on the cobbles

There may be trouble ahead in Weatherfield, but off-screen life is good for Coronation Street ’s Jennie McAlpine, who married her partner, restaurant boss Chris Farr, in 2017 after 12 years together.

In 2014 Jennie gave birth to their son Albert, and daughter Hilda followed in 2018. But although the actress from Bury is passionate about Corrie, she says it’s pure coincidence that the kids share their names with Weatherfield legends Albert Tatlock and Hilda Ogden.

Heartbreak is just around the corner for Jennie’s character Fiz. When she suggests to Tyrone that they get married, he admits he’s fallen for their Romanian lodger, Alina.

We catch up with Jennie, 37, to talk about Fiz’s latest woes and what the Street means to her…
