Our columnist looks forward to the new school year and celebrates Emma’s tennis triumph

Theo had his first proper day of school last week and it was amazing. He had been nervous. He wasn’t sleeping and we were wondering what was wrong with him. Then it dawned on us that’s what it could be. We were asking him whether he was excited about school and he was saying yes, but clearly he was worried. Emily and I took him and picked him up together, and he loved it! He told us all about his lunch, that he played with new friends and did drawing and painting. To see him happy and say “I can’t wait to go back” was amazing. Similarly, I can’t believe how much Junior is loving college. It’s like he’s a different kid. When he was going to school, he jumped at the chance of a day off, whereas now he’d say “No thanks”. It’s scary to see him so grown up but it’s also wonderful.

MY GIRLS ARE GROWING UP!

I posted a photo on my Instagram of Princess looking all grown-up on her first day back at school. God help me with that one, she’s growing up so fast! She’s such a sweetheart and has a great sense of humour. I keep telling her, “Keep being you, you’re brilliant.”
