The upsetting fallout from a new book about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex has threatened to take the shine off Meghan’s 39th birthday this week. However, there’s one money-can’t-buy present that might just save the day for the former actress – a phone call from her sisterin-law the Duchess of Cambridge.
Finding Freedom, by Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, claims to tell the real story about Harry and Meghan’s departure from “the Firm”. It has exposed rumours about the couple’s previous frustrations working for the royal family, and published stories that have the potential to rock their reportedly fragile relationship with Kate and her husband the Duke of Cambridge.
Royal commentator Duncan Larcombe tells OK!, “A phone call from Kate on her birthday would be the best present for Meghan. Kate could and should get on the telephone to her sister-in-law and say, ‘Come on, we’re better than this. I’m so sorry if that’s how you felt. What can we do to go forward from here?’ In fact, if Kate doesn’t make that call, an opportunity to mend the brothers’ broken relationship will potentially be missed forever.”
Meghan and Harry, 35, sensationally quit their royal roles in January, and are now living in a gated celebrity enclave in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, with their 14-month-old son Archie.
Her Majesty the Queen was said to have felt deeply hurt by their departure, which officially fell on 1 April, but gave the couple her blessing to embark on a new life outside of the monarchy.
