Biopics have become a trend, and this year we’ve seen and heard so many stories that were undiscovered or unknown to common man. Most of the figures have been the typical famous kind, but films on them haven’t ceased to enhance the fame or notoriety in some cases, to a greater extent. The year is at a close, leaving us with tales that touched us and managed to find a place in our hearts. Rinaldo D’souza gives you a line–up of stories, biopics that will inspire you. At least most of them. And then we have the villains who elicit stories to be written about them too…
RUSTOM
A true story set in the 1950’s, where infidelity takes a toll on a happy married relationship. Rustom Pavri, a Naval Officer, finds out that his wife is cheating on him and is later pulled in for the murder of the wife’s lover. The true tale, however, doesn’t end the way the film does. We’ve seen Akshay Kumar in various on-screen avatars, but this one, in particular, shows how well the bloke can switch coats and fit them perfectly. Ileana D’cruz’ and Arjan Bajwa too gave splendid supporting performances. With fancy period costumes complementing the era, the smallest of details were taken care of with great attention. All in all, the story was a delight with its share of highs and lows, and director Tinu Suresh Desai deserves a mention for a job superbly done.
