WHEN Suri Cruise was spotted with her mom, Katie Holmes, on a back-to-school shopping spree in Calabasas, Calif., in August, the sweet-faced 11-year-old looked pretty in pink shorts and a purple leotard. Her mood, however, seemed blue. “She looked so sad and downcast,” a spy says, adding that Suri’s spirits barely picked up even when Katie’s boyfriend, Jamie Foxx, showed up later at their gated L.A. mansion with a stash of sweet treats.

Suri may have good reason to be gloomy. Now that Katie and Jamie have finally gone public with their under-the radar romance, sources claim that Suri is missing her father, Tom Cruise, more than ever — and now, 1,487 days since she’s been seen with her dad, she has made a poignant plea to the MIA megastar! “Her sentiments were short but full of emotion,” says a source. “She asked if she’d done something to make him stay away,” claimed the confidante, “and then begged him to come and visit!”

BLAME GAME

Hoping to soothe Suri’s feelings, Katie — who blindsided Tom in 2012 when she called it quits on their almost six-year marriage — has tried to explain her ex’s absence by telling her daughter that his crazy movie-making schedule leaves him little time to jet back and forth from his filming locations to be with her. “But she’s a smart cookie and knows that Tom hangs out with his older children, Connor and Isabella [from his marriage to Nicole Kidman].”
