‘A Royal Milestone'

Prince William’s life is at a crossroads. As a child of the world’s most public and bitter divorce, who was never quite sure if he wanted to fulfil his destiny as the King of England, the future is coming at him – fast. So it’s a relief to all who know him that as he turns 40 on June 21, it’s a future he’s now ready to face head-on.

With the Queen in ill health at 96 and his 73-year-old father in the wings as the oldest king-in-waiting in history, William is poised to become the Prince of Wales and possibly even king before his next decade passes. So it’s lucky he tells friends that he’s “lived a lot of life” up until this juncture.

WHO understands the second in line is spending his 40th milestone with his beloved family, including wife the Duchess of Cambridge, also 40, Prince George, 8, Princess Charlotte, 7, and Prince Louis, 4.

“Catherine didn’t do anything for her 40th in January, so there will be a joint celebration. Wherever those hilarious kids are, there’ll be a party regardless,” says a source. “Between the children, the pandemic and shouldering more royal responsibilities, they’ve been very busy. There’s also been talk of a kid-free getaway somewhere to toast the next 40 years.”
