Ash Barty - A DREAM COMES TRUE

The stands were peppered with A-listers and royalty, but all eyes were on Australian tennis superstar Ashleigh Barty when she won the 2021 Wimbledon ladies’ singles title, defeating Czech Republic’s Karolina Pliskova 6-3, 6-7, 6-3.

Even though Barty, 25, had entered the tournament ranked as the world number one, those closest to her were anxious about her chances due to an aggravated hip injury that forced her to withdraw from the French Open just weeks prior.

TWO-TIME CHAMP

Australia’s Dylan Alcott has claimed his second Wimbledon quad wheelchair singles championship with a straight-sets defeat of Dutchman Sam Schroder.

“I get emotional thinking about Wimbledon and you might’ve heard my good friend Ash Barty say it’s a dream even for Aussies to come and win,” said Alcott, 30, who also won the singles title in 2019. “To get to play here is an absolute privilege.”

“Being able to play here at Wimbledon was nothing short of a miracle,” Barty revealed in her post-match press conference. “It’s funny, sometimes the stars align, you can think positively, you can plan, and sometimes the stars do align.”
