Harry & Meghan: Take Manhattan

In August, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s biographer Omid Scobie revealed the couple were on the verge of entering a new “era of visibility” as they prepared to get back to work following their parental leave. And on September 23, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were back with a bang as they started a three-day tour of New York City.

Making their first public appearance together since they welcomed their daughter Lilibet “Lili” Diana in June, the pair headed to the Big Apple for a very important reason. Harry, 37, and Meghan, 40, were in town to lend their support to Global Citizen Live, where they spoke up about the world’s need for COVID-19 vaccine equity.

“Every single person on this planet has a fundamental right to get this vaccine,” the former Suits star said. “But it is wrong that so much of the vaccine supply has only gone to just 10 wealthy nations so far, and not everyone else. It’s just not OK,” she added.

The event, held in Central Park on September 25, featured performances from Coldplay, Jennifer Lopez and Lizzo. The New York City site joined a live broadcast from cities around the world calling on wealthier nations to share coronavirus vaccines with those in need, and called for a waiver on vaccine intellectual property rights so developing nations can produce their own.
