Kennedy Curse continues

America's most famous family suffers yet another heartbreak as tow lives are tragically lost at sea

They've been described as the nearest thing the US has to royalty: a powerful and glamorous political dynasty that included a president, an attorney general and two senators – but one plagued by a stream of tragedies stretching back more than 60 years.

This month, the lives of two more Kennedys were cut short, prompting renewed interest in the so-called ‘Kennedy curse’. The body of Maeve Kennedy McKean, 40 – the granddaughter of Senator Robert F Kennedy (President JFK’s brother) – was recovered from Chesapeake Bay, Maryland, on April 6 after she and her 8-year-old son, Gideon, went missing on April 3. The little boy’s body was found a few days later.

Maeve’s shattered husband David McKean revealed that the family, including two other children, Gabrielle, 7, and 2-year-old Toby, had been self-isolating in a house on the waterfront. “We were hoping to give our kids more space than we have at home in DC to run around,” he said.
