Willie Garson 1964-2021: ‘I WILL MISS EVERYTHING ABOUT YOU

Be kind to each other … always. Love to all.’’ With those words, beloved Sex and the City star Willie Garson sent a final goodbye to his adoring fans as he entered what would be his final days of a secret battle with pancreatic cancer.

The 57-year-old, who played Carrie Bradshaw’s gay best friend Stanford Blatch on the iconic series, succumbed to the disease on September 21, just 16 days after sending his heartfelt message out on Twitter.

His death shocked those unaware of his grave illness and left his friends and co-stars bereft. A devastated Sarah Jessica Parker, 56, who was a close friend of Garson’s even before they shared the screen in SATC, remained silent for several days following his passing before she was able to honour her friend with a touching tribute.

“It’s been unbearable,’’ she wrote on Instagram. “Sometimes silence is a statement. Of the gravity. The anguish. The magnitude of the loss of a 30 [plus] year friendship. A real friendship that allowed for secrets, adventure, a shared professional family, truth, concerts, road trips, meals, late night phone calls, a mutual devotion to parenthood and all the heartaches and joy that accompany, triumphs, disappointments, fear, rage and years spent on sets (mostly in Carrie’s apartment) and laughing late into the night as both Stanford and Carrie and Willie and SJ.
