Sikkim The Garden Of Indra

It’s the second smallest among the Indian states. Founded on the Silk Route by the Namgyal Dynasty in the 17th century, Sikkim was known as Indrakil or the garden of Lord Indra!

Sikkim is situated in the mountainous regions of the Himalayas. The summit of Kanchenjunga, the world’s third  highest peak lies in Sikkim. The Himalayan mountain ranges cover the northern, eastern and western borders of Sikkim. The Lower Himalayas are in the southern side and are densely populated. The remaining areas are heavily forested. There are snow-fed streams, glaciers, high altitude lakes and hot springs that make Sikkim a lush and beautiful place. Sikkim is one of India’s few states to get a snow fall throughout the year. Peaks in North-western Sikkim remain snow capped the whole time.
