A Notch Year! - The A To Z Of 2018

The year has come to an end and having spent 12 months are quite difficult to recall as how it went, event by event, to summarize it for us. Mobile industry has had a roller coaster ride too in which we witnessed some new technologies while quite a few becoming redundant. The year 2018 can be summarized as the notch year for the mobile industry where the notch became a mass thing. We will summarize the 365 days for you to revisit the developments which changed the mobile landscape and shown a new path to improve and work on it in the upcoming year.

Apple

The launch of new iPhone created quite a buzz among the buyers and copiers around the world. The Cupertino-based tech giant crossed the rupees one lakh mark with the new launches. It is for the first time that Apple has sandwiched a six inches display on its new iPhone. The brand continued with notch from iPhone X but, there weren’t much of improvements in the new phones. While the optics remained the same, the processor used is one stage further.

Asus

The Taiwanese brand had a mix year with some good phone launches such as ZenFone Max Pro M1 and ZenFone 5Z. At the start of the year Asus launched Max Pro M1 which was quite successful among budget buyers. For the premium buyers, the tech brand had ZenFone 5Z that came to challenge OnePlus 6. Now, Asus has geared itself for the gaming beast, The ROG Phone, which is purely dedicated to the hardcore gamers.The ROG Phone is an adaptation of its ROG Laptop series which the company is trying to leverage in smartphone segment.

BlackBerry

The year almost went unnoticed by the company with no major launches in the smartphone genre. by the end of 2018 it launched blackberry KeY2 Le taking cue from its predecessor KeYone, having said that, the new smartphone did not prove to beat its competitors because of the outdated performance and for being shy on the features. The brand did not show any kind of urgency to reclaim its dominance among the premium segment buyers.
