Stay Cool Through Your Diet This Summer
Hospitality Food & Wine|Mid June 2019 Year 2 Issue 6

Often during summer, a lot of us look for ways to beat the heat.

Stay Cool Through Your Diet This Summer

We resort to many things like drinking chilled drinks, going for a swim or blasting the fan at yourself. All these are a short-term workaround that provides us with some much-needed relief from the heat. Around the world, people have discovered various ways to keep their bodies cool during the summer and not be bothered by the scorching summer heat. Of all the countless methods used, very few people resort to food as a cooling substance during this period. Believe it or not, food is a very effective way of keeping your body temperatures at cooler levels and helps regulate all the heat that you face. It helps you tolerate heat better and reduces any chances of heat exhaustion or heat rashes.

To help you fight the heat this summer, we have listed different kinds of food that will help you the next couple of months:

Curd

As delicious as curd is, it also has a cooling effect on the body. Especially in Nepal with so many variations of local curd to go around, you can have your pick of the lot and enjoy a chilled serving. If you want to mix it up, you can make various drinks out of it too.

If you don’t enjoy the regular form of curd, variations of it are abundant such as the spicy buttermilk, sweet lassi or even toss in a few seasonal fruits to turn it into a delicious smoothie. Rich with Vitamin B and gut-friendly bacteria, curd soothes the body from within. In addition to keeping your body temperature cooler, curd also helps in keeping your digestive system running smoothly.
