Cookham is a small and historic village on the south bank of the Thames in the northeast corner of Berkshire. In a survey in 2011, it was described as Britain’s second richest village. Areas of the surrounding commons and moors are now owned by the National Trust.
This short bike ride is a chance to explore the pretty countryside and Thames from Cookham to Maidenhead using a mixture of bridleways, cycle tracks and roads. Some small sections run along footpaths and you may need to dismount.
1 (SU 89356 85338) The bike ride starts from the National Trust car park at Cookham Moor. From the car park cycle east along the B4447 and just before entering Cookham village, turn right down School Lane, following it southwards and eastwards until you reach Sutton Road (A4094).
